3 day ABPS to start at Nagpur from 9th March

3 day ABPS to start at Nagpur from 9th March

3-day crucial RSS meet begins in Nagpur from tomorrow

Nagpur: The three day crucial meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will begin here tomorrow and it will elect its new office bearers, along with the new general secretary and joint general secretaries.
The senior RSS leader and akhil bharatiya pracharak pramukh of the organisation, Manmohan Vaidya said that the name of new general secretary will be known to press on March 10 without giving any indication whether incumbent general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi will continue or will be replaced. Joshi’s fate was in balance due to health issues, sources added.
The general secretary, the executive head of the organisation, is elected by an all-India body of delegates, called ABPS, every three years. The Sar Karyavah (general secretary) then nominates other office bearers, including the four joint general secretaries, in consultation with the RSS chief. Though the ABPS is supposed to meet every year, the election of office bearers takes place only after three years.
The meeting is quite significant ahead of the ensuing Karnataka and a couple of other state elections and the general elections in 2019. The RSS had played a pivotal role in creating “Modi wave” across the country before the last elections leading to BJP’s landslide victory in 2014.
Around 1,500 delegates are expected to attend the meeting. The main focus of the meeting will be on charting out the course of action and efforts to be made for the next three years, Vaidya said. The BJP president Amit Shah, general secretary (organisation), Ramlal, senior BJP functionary, Ram Madhav and other senior party leaders are expected to attend the meeting on March 9.
Replying to a query on statues of leaders being vandalised in various parts of the country, Vaidya said, “All these incidents are very unfortunate.”
